What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that aims to lift and reshape sagging breasts. For many patients, it can have significant benefits, including increased volume, projection, and a boost in self-confidence that comes when you look and feel your best.

Dr. Chang understands that every patient is unique and will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your individual concerns and goals for your breasts after a breast lift.
During a breast lift procedure, Dr. Chang will make incisions on the breasts, remove excess skin, and reshape the breast tissue to improve the overall contour and appearance of the breasts. The nipple and areola may also be repositioned to a higher location on the breast to create a more youthful appearance.
The specific technique used for a breast lift will depend on the patient’s individual needs and desired results. Dr. Chang will work closely with the patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique concerns and goals.

Is a Breast Lift Right for You?

It’s important to note that while a breast lift can improve the shape and position of the breasts, it will not significantly increase breast size. Patients who desire fuller breasts may consider combining a breast lift with breast augmentation using implants.

Patients who are good candidates for a breast lift should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the results of the procedure. A breast lift can help address many concerns including:

  • Sagging or dropping breasts: If you have sagging breasts due to aging, weight loss, or pregnancy, a breast lift can help to lift and reshape your breasts to a more youthful position.
  • Breast shape: If you are unhappy with the shape of your breasts, a breast lift can help to improve their contour and symmetry.
  • Nipple position: If your nipples point downward or are positioned below the breast crease, a breast lift can reposition them to a higher location on the breast.

Breast Lift Incisions

Dr. Chang will work with each patient to determine which incision type is most appropriate for their specific needs and desired results.

  • Anchor incision: This is the most common type of breast lift incision, also known as an inverted T or Wise pattern incision. It involves three incisions: one around the areola, one vertically from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease, and one horizontally along the breast crease.
  • Lollipop incision: This incision involves two incisions: one around the areola and one vertically from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease.
  • Crescent incision: This is a small incision that is made just above the areola. It is typically used for patients who need only a minor lift.
  • Periareolar incision: This involves an incision around the edge of the areola. It is typically used for patients who need only a small lift and do not have a significant amount of excess skin.
