Achieve Beautiful, Natural Results
top Deep Plane Facelift Surgeon
As we age the face is often the first area to show the tell-tale signs of aging which can appear as wrinkles, fine lines, and jowling. Visible signs of aging can sometimes impact one’s confidence and make you look much older than you feel.
Dr. Catherine Chang, MD, FACS is a Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon who specializes in deep plane facelift procedures that surgically tighten the skin on the face and neck while improving the appearance of the tell-tale signs of aging. She is most notably recognized for her extremely natural results that take years off her patient’s appearance.
Dr. Catherine Chang, MD, FACS is Quadruple Ivy-League educated and is a top Craniofacial specialist. She uses her education and advanced training to perform facelifts using the most advanced technology and modern techniques. Dr. Chang has an advanced understanding of how to treat the underlying causes of complex facial anatomy issues, including skin laxity and jowling.
While traditional facelifts only lift the face horizontally, Dr. Chang’s modern facelift techniques lift the face almost entirely vertically which is the most ideal technique for optimal results as aging and gravity pull facial skin and underlying soft tissue downward over time.
A Bespoke Approach
“Results So Natural, It Will Be Your Best Kept Secret™”
Dr. Chang recognizes that no two patients are the same; she creates a personalized treatment plan that will address your unique problem areas while creating her signature fresh, youthful rejuvenated look.
During your consultation Dr. Chang will thoroughly examine the anatomy of your face and bone structure to determine the best procedures for your desired results. Her bespoke, custom-tailored facelift techniques aim to provide the best results for each individual patient.
Advanced SMAS Facelift Techniques
Facelift expert Dr. Chang performs most of her facelifts using the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) Technique. Unlike traditional facelifts which only lift the top layer of facial tissue, the SMAS technique lifts three layers of facial tissue, allowing for a cohesive result and a more natural-looking aesthetic.
The SMAS is a layer of tissue that is located between the subcutaneous fat and surface skin layer. This facial tissue has fibers that connect to all the other layers. When the SMAS is lifted, all the other layers above it are lifted as well. This allows the face to retain a natural appearance.
The SMAS technique is also beneficial in that the pull vector is vertical. Traditional facelifts use a backward pull, which can create the dreaded “worked-on” look. While this method does tighten the face, it disrupts the appearance of the skin, making it look unnatural. The SMAS technique pulls vertically, which is the opposite of gravity’s pull.
Dr. Catherine Chang, MD, FACS performs 6 different types of SMAS lift techniques including her signature deep-plane facelift technique. She chooses the proper SMAS technique for each patient to ensure a truly bespoke, natural-looking lift with impeccable results that takes years off your face.
Who is a Candidate for a deep plane Facelift in Beverly Hills?
Patients who most benefit from a deep plane facelift are those with signs of aging that are most prominent on the mid and lower face.
A facelift procedure addresses some of the most common signs of aging, including:
- Loose skin
- Jowling
- Drooping cheeks
- Creases along the nasolabial folds
- Wrinkles and creases
- Excess skin along the jawline and upper neck
By addressing these common signs of aging, Dr. Chang can help you look and feel radiantly beautiful and confident again.
Recovery After Deep Plane Facelift
Misconceptions about a deep plane facelift procedure can lead some patients to believe it is a more invasive surgery compared to a traditional facelift, resulting in a longer recovery time. However, this is not the case. Dr. Chang’s deep plane technique allows the skin and muscle to remain attached to the underlying systems, resulting in less trauma to the facial tissue compared to a SMAS facelift that separates the distinct layers of facial tissue, pulling them out of their original alignment. The recovery period for both procedures is comparable, with a few weeks required before fully resuming normal activities.
